Wissenschaftliche gemeinnützige Körperschaften, aber auch Berufsverbände sind von der Körperschaftsteuer befreit, solange sie nicht wirtschaftliche Geschäftsbetriebe unterhalten. Solche gewerblichen Aktivitäten treten bei Kongressen in Form von Industrieausstellungen, Symposien, Anzeigengeschäft und Rahmenprogrammen etc. auf und können gravierende
Steuerbelastungen auslösen. Es wird eine Konzeption geschildert, bei der diese Bereiche durch Rechteüberlassung ausgegliedert werden und die Einkünfte in der steuerbefreiten Vermögensverwaltung anfallen.

Die Ansprüche an die Verbandsarbeit steigen - inhaltlich wie auch finanziell. Die. Möglichkeiten der Einbindung des Ehrenamts hingegen nehmen ab – persönliche Zeitbudgets von Freiwilligen werden immer knapper. Dadurch wird zunehmend festes. Personal für die Verbandsarbeit benötigt. Möglichkeiten und Herausforderungen der Professionalisierung von Verbänden werden aus der Perspektive der Geschäftsstellenleitung vorgestellt.
