The 2008 Winners
The IMEX Academy Awards were presented to the some of the meeting industry's brightest talents at the IMEX 2008 Gala Dinner. This year's JMIC (Joint
Meetings Industry Council) Unity Award was presented to Hans Friis, Executive Director of Brähler ICS AG.
Brähler ICS founded the first global network in 1969 and operates all over the world. This network sells and hires state-of-the-art conference technology.
The MPI (Meeting Professionals International) Foundation Youth Winner was Ashley Boniface, of Thames valley University, UK. Her winning research paper was entitled, "How the Phillips ROI Methodology™ can be applied by individual delegates to estimate the value of educational conferences."

The IMEX Green Exhibitor Award went to Malta Tourism Authority who worked closely with their stand constructing company, Zaffarese Exhibitions & Events Ltd and German company Octanorm to enhance the green credentials of their stand. The Octanorm aluminium alloy, which was used for the stand construction, is a recycleable material and the stand or parts of the stand will be re-used over a 3-years period at other events.

Scandic Hotel's organisation of 'Sustainable Meetings', was awarded the Gold 2007 IMEX Green Meetings Award. The Silver Green Meetings Award was given to UUA (Unitarian Universalists Association). Highly commended entries this year were USGBC and BSI.

The IMEX Commitment to the Community Award, was presented to WorldEvents BV for the Norgine Conference. Highly commended entries came from MCI and Pay it Forward.
The IMEX AACB (Association of Australian Convention Bureau) Vin Barron award for bureaux staff went to Ian-Michael Farkas Mitrani, Business Development Manager with Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The new IMEX Green Supplier Gold Award, given to the supplier who has demonstrated the best effort to minimise the environmental impact of their venue or product, was presented to Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. The Silver award was given to the Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre.
