Michael Gates, Group Managing Director for Richard Lewis Communications, led a seminar on Cross Cultural Skills - Cultural Issues in Multicultural Meetings and Events at IMEX on 26 May 2009. The seminar highlighted the important cultural aspects of organising multicultural meetings and events such as conferences – why cultural factors are important when organising such events to ensure that maximum benefit is obtained by participants. |

Richard Lewis Communications is the world's foremost training organisation combining cross-cultural, communication and language skills in its programmes. The chairman, Richard D Lewis, is internationally recognised as a leading authority on cross-cultural issues and was awarded PATA 'Personality of the Year' in 1999 for his 'extraordinary work' in this area. In addition, he was knighted by President Ahtisaari of Finland in March 1997 in recognition of his services in the cross-cultural field relating to the training of Finnish Ministries for EU entry (1995) and the EU Presidency (1999). He works frequently with the travel industry, most recently in Madrid and Helsinki. |

IMEX has joined with MPI (Meeting Professionals International) and MCI, the foremost pan-European association, communication and events management group - to support the first Culture Active Tool for the meetings industry - developed by Richard Lewis Communications.
