Previous Winners
The 2009 Green Supplier 'Gold' Award went to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, whose facilities feature a solar hot water system which will offset more than 40% of general hot water requirements and can provide 100% of public amenity hot water requirements; energy efficient lighting designed with daylight and built-in motion detection controls and radiant slab heating and cooling, which provides energy efficient thermal comfort and reduces air conditioning. A computerised Building Management System (BMS) also minimises energy consumption by continuously controlling and monitoring the amount of energy used.

The Adelaide Convention Centre was awarded the 2009 Green Supplier 'Silver' Award. Alec Gilbert of the Adelaide Convention Centre said, “A few years ago we made a strategic decision to rebrand and reinvent ourselves. One of the key values adopted was gold service, green attitude, and this philosophy has subsequently influenced the way we do business. The IMEX Award process has allowed us to review our credentials as a green supplier, benchmarking our standards against the world’s best. We are thrilled that once again our environmental initiatives have been acknowledged as outstanding and are delighted to be selected as a silver winner of the IMEX Green Supplier Award 2009.”
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts were awarded the 2008 Green Supplier 'Gold' Award. A staunch advocate of environmental stewardship within the travel and tourism industry, Fairmont was the first major hotel company in North America to include green business practices as an intrinsic part of its operations. Especially impressing the judges was the Fairmont Eco Meet programme - an environmentally friendly conferencing programme, intended to minimise harm to the environment during meetings, conferences and similar events. Developed as a "green meeting" and conference planning option, meeting planners can organise conferences and events that consider the environment, result in reduced waste, and also conserve valuable resources.

The 2008 Green Supplier 'Silver' Award went to The Vancouver Convention & Exhibition Centre (VCEC), whose environmental record is a long standing one that has been reflected in all aspects of building facilities and operations for well over a decade. As a result, VCEC has demonstrated an ongoing leadership role that is now being adopted and / or embraced by other convention centres as well as industry groups such as PCOs and clients.
