
Lufthansa - a global network carrier
2008 summer timetable: more routes, destinations and flights than ever before. More than 200 destinations for the first time and 37 new routes.
Lufthansa is expanding its route network considerably with 15 new destinations taking the total to 207 destinations in 81 countries. The expansion focuses on long-haul routes to growth markets in North America and Asia with seven new connections. In Europe further business centres will be connected with the Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. Numerous new European destinations will be served directly from several airports in Germany.
Long-haul expansion focused on North America and Asia
With new services to Seattle and Calgary from Frankfurt, Lufthansa passengers can now choose from 280 weekly connections to fly nonstop to 22 North American destinations with a total of 33 routes. From 1 May 2008 Lufthansa will be flying to New York and Chicago from Dusseldorf using the Airbus A340. New nonstop flights out of Dusseldorf will also be available to Toronto.
In China, the airline is introducing the first flights by a European carrier to Nanjing from Frankfurt and Shenyang from Munich. To China alone Lufthansa offers 58 weekly connections from its Frankfurt and Munich hubs. India and Singapore also remain the airline's focus with additional nonstop flights from Munich to Mumbai and Singapore. With 50 flights per week to India, Lufthansa is maintaining its leading position in the Asian subcontinent.
Two new direct routes to Africa - Malabo in Equatorial Guinea and Luanda in Angola are also included in the new schedule.
28 new nonstop connections in Europe
Jersey, Ibiza, Iceland, the German island of Usedom and Newquay in the UK will be served this summer with connections from various German airports. The Polish cities of Cracow, Wroclaw and Gdansk are all within nonstop reach of several German airports. Lufthansa customers can also choose between four Romanian destinations following the inclusion of Cluj in the timetable which is served with flights from Munich. Most of Lufthansa's European flights are available for the attractive price of 99 Euros return.
15 years and 15 million members - Miles & More marks major milestones
Miles & More is Europe's largest frequent flyer programme with a membership base of 15 million and over 200 diverse partners. To mark the programme's anniversary members can settle airport taxes and fuel surcharges on German domestic and European flights with a flat rate payment of 10,000 miles. Members booking flexible economy class fares will earn 500 additional miles per round trip. Members will receive double mileage for travelling via numerous new routes in the summer such as Frankfurt to Nanjing, Seattle and Calgary, Dusseldorf to Toronto and Chicago as well as many European routes.

Lufthansa invests 150 million Euros in lounges
Approximately 150 million Euros will be invested in refurbishing lounges at airports throughout its global route network. New Senator and Business lounges were recently opened at Cologne/Bonn airport. At Hamburg airport lounges are currently undergoing expansion and renovation. In the new Terminal area at Frankfurt Airport a completely new lounge concept is being developed. Passengers will board flights from two levels, with the upper level reserved exclusively for first and business class. A new Senator lounge with priority gate connections and a new Business lounge are also being planned. The lounges at New York's JFK are being expanded and modernised with a new third level dedicated exclusively to first class and HON Circle customers scheduled to open this summer. Renovations are also underway at Charles de Gaulle Paris and Mumbai.
Lufthansa passengers can choose between First-Class, Business or Senator lounges in addition to over 600 lounges operated by Star Alliance and other partner airlines - one of the largest lounge networks in the world.
Lufthansa Private Jet service
Nine new private jets will be entering service in the coming months. Passengers can choose from more than 1,000 destinations in Europe and the Russian Federation. Price depends on distance and includes all charges and costs irrespective of the number of passengers on board. The entire itinerary is organised by an event manager and a personal service team is available to passengers around the clock. Catering and inflight entertainment is tailored to individual requirements and passengers enjoy the use of the airports' First Class facilities provided by Lufthansa, SWISS or Lufthansa partner airlines.
