Conference
Manager, World Youth & Student Travel Conference
Born and raised in the North
West of England, Kate Pilkington completed her university education
at Sheffield University and in 1988 began her career in the
UK hospitality industry. After 10 years of successful retail management,
Kate made a lateral move to Association Management when she moved
to Denmark and joined the Federation of International Youth Travel
Organisations (FIYTO) as an Association Administrator.
Her growing involvement
in the association's annual event, the Word Youth and Student Travel
Conference, (WYSTC), led in 2000 to her appointment as Conference
Manager. Over the next seven years, and under Kate's stewardship,
WYSTC continued to grow in size and scope, spawning new
satellite, niche events such as the Work Experience Travel Market.
In 2007 WYSTC A/S was created as a stand alone Event Management
Company responsible for an increasing number of industry events.
|
The flagship event of WYSTC
A/S remains the annual conference and trade fair of its owners, the newly
merged World Youth and Student Travel Confederation. The event boasts
over 1000 delegates representing 500 companies from over 80 countries
around the world. It brings together specialists from the fields
of youth travel, student travel, and international education in a week
long program that combines association meetings, educational conference,
and a b2b trade workshop.
Kate's experience in organising
an association owned and driven event which serves the broader industry
make her an expert in the divergent needs of associations and general
conference attendees.
