Women’s Leadership Forum

Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 May

During the Women’s Leadership Forums at IMEX, Liz Jackson, President of Jackson Consulting Inc and Susan Sarfati, CEO, High Performance Strategies, LLC will look at 'How Women and Men Can Be Strong Partners in Work and in Life', two sessions will take place, part one on Tuesday 22 May at 16:00-17:00 and part two on Wednesday 23 May at 16:00-17:00.

These highly interactive sessions will incorporate critical concerns and issues raised in a recent IMEX survey of women and men currently working in the meetings industry. Practical, thought provoking ideas for addressing the challenges will be shared by speakers and participants.

Pecha Kucha, the session format, involves each speaker presenting 20 power point slides over seven minutes with the idea of being concise, engaging and to the point allowing time for audience participation.

Key issues to be explored during these lively and interactive sessions:

Part One:

• Looking at the Big Picture: A global view of how women are faring in 2012.
• Setting Limits: Women believe they still have to work much harder than men to gain the same level of credibility and recognition.
• Striking a Happy Medium: The urge to nurture and the need to get work done are often in conflict.
• Supporting Each Other: Men are known to be team players and to look out for each other. They play team sports together since early childhood more often than women and apply the team principles throughout life.

Part Two:

• Understanding the Male Ego: Some women do not have the confidence to manifest the level of ego needed to succeed in ego driven situations.
• Delegating Skills: Women weren't meant to be perfect. Letting go of the need to do it all.
• Equal Pay for Equal Work and Overall Negotiation Skills: Women earn 60 – 78% of men’s compensation on a global level.
• Selling an Idea: A woman can present an idea at a meeting and it gets overlooked until a man sells the same idea.
